A bit of a delayed #Evol2023 post, but I was apparently late to the Princeton University Press book giveaway on the last day of the conference, so this was all I was able to nab before the table was completely ransacked.

The most valuable thing I learned at #Evol2023 was from the DinΓ©. Their presentations and discussion were full of important information for empowering and working with any community outside mainstream western culture, but this one point stuck with me more than anything else all week:
Language is medicine.
#evol2023 was a genuine blast. Thank you all for attending and sharing your work and all-around good vibes π
It was great to see all the science and colleagues at #Evol2023! Here's a thread of some tidbits:

Teaching is a standard part of grad school, and funded, but organizing outreach programs is usually "extra", what if there was a substantial chunk of funds for it, at the University level? (next: how do we get those funds) #Evol2023
I'm impressed by both the rapid implementation and the technical quality of the live speech-to-text now for talks at #Evol2023
Kudos to those who helped get this up and running mid-meeting!
