@jswright61 Hardwired is better because there are fewer points of failure (no plug) but worse because it’s less flexible (no plug). 😀

In my case, I’m going to buy a 40- or 50-amp #EVSE so I shouldn’t need to upgrade it. I don’t think we’ll ever need a second charger (we hardly ever drive our second car), and I doubt I’ll ever get into a hobby that will require 220V tools, so going hardwired seems like the right tradeoff for me.

I’m looking hard at the #ChargePoint Home Flex because my local utility will give me a $250 rebate; the hardwire version is $50 cheaper than one with a plug.

Thanks for helping me think this out!

**CCS vs J1772 EV Charging Plugs | What’s The Difference?**

"The primary difference between #CCS (Combined Charging System) and SAE #J1772 is the charging capacity. The J1772 is a type 1 and 2 plug, while CCS has level three capacity with two direct DC inputs. This means that CCS is a faster charging plug than a J1772."

My #Emporia #EVSE recently got an app update that included "updates to TOU database". I plugged the car in expecting it to use Excess Solar to charge, and found it was going balls to the wall at 11kW.

Turns out I forgot that our EV plan has Super Off Peak rates from 10 AM to 2 PM during the weekdays in March and April.

Yes, these are our "cheaper" Winter Rates. Thanks #SDGE

@dienstreiser hat mich durch seinen Blog-Artikel (https://dienstreiser.de/tesla-model-3-das-e-auto-fuer-den-aussendienst) noch eine weitere Forderung an den Staat entwickeln lassen:

Tiefgaragensäulen haben selten guten #Mobilempfang ,diskriminieren also die #AppBezahlung. An solchen Orten sollte die Ladesäule einen WLAN- #Accesspoint bereitstellen, der durch eine #Whitelist, irgendwo online gepflegt, zumindest den Zugang für die App-Bezahlung freigibt.

BTW neues Wort gelernt: #EVSE (electric vehicle supply equipment) ist die Ladesäule 😉

@TechConnectify Several of them have been working on this and have test locations where #EVSE is installed at #gasStations, mostly in California. A quick search turned up #Shell who recently acquired the #Greenlots network and #BP who recently acquired #AmplyPower starting this process. The other more intractable companies are starting to take notice. They are absolutely moving like molasses in winter about it, though.

Well my #EV has had some trouble charging recently correlating to the cold.

So far I'm suspecting the #EVSE is at fault, whilst it worked earlier in the day the usual scheduled charge whilst it's freezing is causing it to fail.

Fun.
