The #BangkoSentral's coin deposit machines are possibly the cheapest (zero fees!) way for @pinoy|s to top-up (cash-in) their #gcash or #maya #ewallet
With certain channels, there's a 2% convenience fee beyond a certain threshold amount, while doing it via the machine will get you the full value of your coin hoard 💰

On my way back from the morning bike ride in the neighborhood, I found another #durian vendor. This one sells them for just 1 USD per kilogram -- even cheaper than yesterday's find!
I couldn't resist buying one, but I didn't have any cash. Thankfully, this roadside stall accepts #ewallet payments! No QRs tho. 😅
This one's a "Kob" variety. And this is how you do a durian takeout, with a bike.
After a few weeks of testing, I conclude that the #Vybe #eWallet from BPI still has ways to go before it can replace whatever e-wallet app you're using.
I like the idea of a single wallet that works with #QRph codes -- without paying fees (then earn points), but it's too finicky with #QRph codes and will insist they aren't valid
#SeaBank 's app can quickly, and reliably recognize QRph codes. Also free.
It's just annoying that it requires me to take off my mask, to face-verify occasionally.
👛 The new #eWallet from BPI looks promising, and is already available to current BPI Online users in the @philippines
💰 I like that it takes advantage of the @pinoy #QRph for cross-wallet transactions, to pay or transfer funds to other eWallets like #Gcash, #Maya, #ShopeePay, etcetera.
✅ So far, it doesn't seem to charge anything for the service, and the best thing about it is that #DuckDuckGo's APT doesn't report any tracking attempts by the app.

For years I used #ewallet - I don't remember why I felt it was no longer meeting my needs, but I started to migrate to #1Password
The first receipt I can find in my archives is from 2011 and it was for version 3.0
To be honest, 1Password is the only thing that keeps me sane in maintaining decent security online. There is no way I could manage it any other way.
Seeing the news on #lastpass - you guys are a trusted partner, over a decade!
Glad you are on #Mastodon

I'm curious about user behavior re the use of #eWallets for #MicroPayments
Do you only (usually) use the same #eWallet brand to pay recipients using the same eWallet?
Does that even matter where you're from? Feel free to elaborate by adding a reply.
In the #Philippines, for example, people usually pay #Gcash to Gcash / or #Maya to Maya because of zero transaction fees. A transaction with another wallet (e.g. Maya to Gcash) may cause a few extra bucks - which adds up, if you use it a lot.

@evelyn Like I wrote earlier, it depends. There are a few who don't charge anything for cross-wallet/bank transfers, while everyone seems to offer internal transfers (i.e. same wallet/bank) for free.
For cross-transfer fees, see this previous toot https://social.tchncs.de/@gowin/109662036901616144
These days, if you see a QR payment code sporting the #QRph logo, that means it's inter-operable, and should work with any #eWallet or banking app that supports payments via QR codes.
@evelyn Basically, the BSP mandated all banks and #ewallet service providers to inter-operate with each other by using a common #QRph standard, piggybacking on #PesoNet and #InstaPay. In theory, consumers no longer need not maintain different apps or #eWallets to transfer funds to each other, but in reality, some consumers find the transaction fees a turn-off, especially if they do a lot of inter-wallet transactions.

@evelyn 😅 Same here. I never had a #gCash, so I used to need another app for vendors stuck on this #eWallet . These days, thanks to #QRph , it's so much easier to transact across eWallets.
Yeah, this incident you described is a bit suspicious for me, too. I'd direct them to the nearest Globe shop. Scammers come in all forms, and ages.

In the #Philippines, I believe #ewallet users have several options for loading money in them. Some are free, some aren't.
When the #covid19 pandemic started, and the number of #eWallet users shot up, all providers were providing their services for free, at the "request" of the monetary authority.
Our exchange rate is ~55 PHP to the dollar. So the typical transaction fee of 20 PHP is about 0.35 USD.
Coming from what we have here, your 0.10 USD fees looks reasonable!
#COVID19 #ewallet #philippines
@cendawanita Actually, in principle, I have no objections to the fees. It's a service, and there are costs related to keeping it running reliably.
The fees are not mandated, of course, but the amounts are ridiculous if you want to use them for #micropayments in the #Philippines.
Let's say you're paying something for 100 bucks, and your #eWallet provider charge you 25 bucks on top of that. Too expensive!
#ewallet #philippines #micropayments
Charges vary, but it can be anywhere between 10-30 bucks per transaction.
That adds up, if you prefer to pay with your #ewallet, rather than #cash
Number of users are growing, but
I will consider it as widely accepted when you can pay for your favorite taho from the neighborhood street vendor with it.
