It explains, in plain English, why so many of us with chronic illnesses are exhausted all of the time. Long Covid and chronic fatigue syndrome suffer from it too.

I don't mean tired.

I mean, force myself to go to the store and I need to sleep the next day.

I'm on vacation and not on duty!

It's been a zero sum day #today

Daughter remains in the care of a hospital due to her worsening #mentalhealth issues. This hospital is in another part of the country and aren't great at communicating.

I'm quite unwell. Stress & tension coupled with #exhaustion from yesterday have led to visual #migraine and some #ibs symptoms.
Every time I dozed off I was interrupted by staff or family.

We're hoping she'll be transferred back to her local hospital tomorrow.

My life right now consists of:

80% attempting to potty-train a puppy and keeping him from using our 20-year-old grandpa cat (with cancer! and an anxiety disorder!) as a chew toy

15% iterating okra and eggplant seed starting conditions, seeking a way to get the seedlings past the cotyledon stage. (at least I seem to have figured out tomatoes, finally.)

5% sleep

The hits keep coming, and Annetta is tired...

The Story So Far:

* Mum died six weeks ago, my chest feels right and funny a lot of the time, I'm sleeping in every day, but I'm beginning to make jokes: "Then my mum died unexpectedly. Rude!!" This makes sense if you ever saw us together. We enjoyed gallows humour and the Golden Girls, it was a consistently good aspect of our relationship. Even with the laughing memories, grief at this stage is exhausting.

* Realities of executorship are sinking in - and while I don't resent the job, or want to wriggle out of it, there are times when it's deeply emotional and tough for me. This can be exhausting.

* The man who sexually assaulted me and several other female children is currently in Long Bay, but coming up for parole in November, and the lovely support person gave me a call yesterday as I have the right to a submission (which includes exclusion zones). This is also depleting the few resources I can call on at this time.

Even with decades of therapy, hard work and determination I am so tired of having to deal with painful stuff from the past.

Ultimately this is grief at the pointy end - grief is never in isolation. There's always other stuff demanding our time and attention while we sit and sift through our sorrows, memories and realisations.

If life calls and asks for me over the next few weeks please tell it I'm out and won't be back until next month. Ta.

A mate messaged me to catch up because he’s just moved and wanted to show me his new place. I looked at my diary and told him the first availability I had was 3rd June (so a month away) and the people pleasing part of my brain feels terrible because he was obviously disappointed it wasn’t sooner.

The beauty of having done a lot of work on myself, both independently and with professionals, is that I am able to set limits on how much I exert (or over exert) myself. So, while I currently feel bad, a few years ago I would have pushed myself to fit them in somewhere meaning I was anxious and exhausted, and not able to give my best self to them or to the other things for the days surrounding meeting up with them.

When exhaustion & migraine stop play.
I've not been posting much as I've been running round, trying to get sorted to go camping. I was supposed to be halfway to the site by now if not most of the way there but good old stress, a migraine and possibly exhaustion (every limb is heavy and achy) are doing a number on me.
Emergency duvet-day and try again tomorrow, I might still make it in time to enjoy the events this weekend.

Put on jeans today - usually I only were sports leggings - for a doctor’s appointment.

Wanted to get some medical check done to rule out possible physical reasons for my ongoing exhaustion & depression.

Had a weird physical exam (this guy is just some old creep, but I get the medical care I need), got blood taken & an #ECG. Referral for an #thyroid ultrasound.

Kind of feels like being kissed by an #octopus.
