Ich muss mir mal anschauen, warum weder mein #Roundcube noch mein #openxchange ihre Mails an #exim4 als Mailserver mit Authentication loswerden koennen, ein ordentlicher MUA jedoch schon...
#roundcube #openxchange #exim4
I didn't upgrade my home server to Debian 11 until yesterday because I didn't want to break my custom exim4 config. In the end exim4 is fine, but I've no IPv4 DHCP server now...
#debian #exim4 #bind #dnsmasq #dhcp #linux #networking
Got #exim4 to add #DKIM signatures to outgoing emails. However all the instructions fail to mention that their instructions only work if you have #Debian split_config off. If you have it on, then it doesn't work, as you need to edit a different local file to pass in your DKIM settings.
However running:
sudo exim -bP transports | grep dkim
Is at least useful to see what's going on without having to test send any emails...
ok so sending mails back and forth works now.
but its not working for remote to local.
local to remote is working, however.
<john@yeshua.is>: lost connection with yeshua.is[x.x.x.x] while receiving
the initial server greeting
is where i'm at, currently.
wonder what I'm missing.
yeah okay i'm confused.
#exim4
i have the mailserver setup such that i can send a mail from mozilla seamonkey, to myself + another address. they both get there.
the local copy goes in /home/username/Maildir/new
but yet i cannot check the mail from seamonkey mail.
also, tail -f /etc/exim4/main.log
shows no errors when i click "Check Messages" in SeaM, although it just eventually comes back with:
"An error occurred with the POP3 mail server. Mail server mail.foo.server responded: "
#ben ?

exim4 mailserver configuration progress:
well i can send emails out of seamonkey/thunderbird now.
but i can't check my inbox.
although i know it exists on the system, because it shows up under /home/user/Maildir, I can read emails with cat, which show up in /home/user/Maildir/cur
and I can send out from the local machine to both local and outside addresses.
wonder what i'm missing here.
hmmmmm.

#exim4 email server nerdlinger update: well my rDNS got approved and the test emails i sent from the ssh session on the server via alpine to proton and tutanota arrived, in a whole flurry of messages earlier today. i also was able to read the mail in /home/user/Maildir with cat.
now on the list:
figure out how to get thunderbird/seamonkey mail working, so my buddy can use his acct
probably have to buy another certificate (only have 48 bucks) and need 20 of that for smokes through the 1st..
#exim4 #homeautomation #linuxrules
I configured #exim4 until midnight and later found it was the hosting provider who banned the 25 port for me. π Not a good sleep, would be a long day today...
