In November, South Dakota became the 39th state to approve expansion under the ACA. Six other states also have expanded #Medicaid by a citizen-initiated ballot measure. But among the ten holdouts, only Florida allows that option, and the pathway is so arduous there that proponents recently postponed their campaign for two years.

North Carolina is now at the top of the list of the states that are most likely to #expandMedicaid.

I talked a bit about Community yesterday (or at least I intended to).

One important aspect of community that I failed to mention, but that is critical for the #Disability community, is the legal right to and accessibility of community care.

The deinstitutionalization movement in the United States has a long history, but in 2022 many states (including my home state of North Carolina) still fails to fully carry out it's obligations from the 1999 Olmstead decision.

Deinstitutionalization and access to community services is a right under the ADA, and some states need to do a much better job at providing community services to #disabled people across the range of conditions, including people with mental health and developmental disabilities.
