What BG3 is illustrating is what gamers expect from a AAA release: detailed, high quality, and most importantly, good. It doesn't matter if it's a rehash of the mechanics as long as it's polished and fun.

I don't even think length even matters either, though it does depend on the genre. BG3 wouldn't be as praised as it is now with a 4 hour runtime.
