I like that you are an #optimist about #technology and even #AI. As my username suggests I think there *can* be paths to a better #society, but our experiences with unregulated #extremegreed, #datatheft and #attentiontheft suggest the path will be difficult and actively #thwarted. Here's hoping! 🤓

@northeastbylines I agree. The second problem with Liz Truss is that she still believes in #trickledown. Rich people and big companies have been shown to hoard the money given to them by governments for socio-economic purposes. They use #taxbreaks to buy back their own stock. #extremegreed #taxtherich

@GregCirillo @dcjohnson I think the second statement can be true if the vantage point is royalty setting all the rules in the past, and most people suffering under feudalism. Despite our democracy attempts, our economy and society now suffers under a parallel quasi-royal power structure in the form of the #ultrarich and giant corporations getting to set rules and conditions for the many. #extremegreed

@dcjohnson True. Here's my nutshell. Historically after WWII there was an agreement between workers, business and government to grow the economy and share the prosperity. When Reagan, Thatcher and Mulrooney took over politics in the 1980s there was a massive shift in taxation and labour strategies that allowed business to have #extremegreed and drain bargaining power from unions. The final step was offshoring manufacturing, allowing globalized profiteering and tax dodging, and disabling workers.
