Then I ordered a cheapo pair, after reading up on the anti-fatigue lenses & fabricating a (stronger) progressive prescription. Total, no insurance: $135.

Finally had my regular eye appointment today, three months late. The delay was caused by me getting a #PosteriorVitreousDetachment (where the gel that fills the eyeball separates from the retina) in my left #eye, two years after getting one in my right. Then there was another appointment when it got worse, then two followups to confirm it was getting better, with no complications.

Today's appointment was not improved by the #ophthalmologist saying in passing that I was starting to develop cataracts. But now I have my latest #eyeglasses prescription, and will order them next week.

Trying to get my head around #glasses (#eyeglasses) and in particular adaptive lenses.

Did you know that photochromic lenses (i.e. adaptive lenses that aren't Transitions lenses) are activated by the amount of UV light hitting them, but then darken in response to ambient temperature? The lower the temperature, the darker they get.

This would make sense for people who live in very snowy areas, but for me in the UK it's debatable how useful they'd be.
But, they're a fraction of the price of Transitions lenses, which are typically near or over £100 a pair.

Yet they cost less than an #iPhone, which never does.

Just got my new #eyeglasses. I decided to opt for the premium progressive lenses this time, after years with regular progressives, and it was totally worth it.

I could feel the difference the moment I put them on, even though my prescription hasn’t changed much from my previous pair.

Funny story

I developed #TMJ pain shortly after I started to wear #eyeglasses for #presbyopia

It took me many years to associate the two. You won't believe what it was.

I read books on my mobile device at night before I go to bed, I lie on my right side and would prop myself on the pillow at my jaw because sandwiching the glasses between my skull and pillow hurt my ear.

The day I stopped doing that was the last day I had any TMJ issues 💀
