#Eyjafjallajökull sag' ich da nur!

#TravelPhotography from #OnThisDay in 2018, and the start of a tour of the south coast of #Iceland. The first photo is #Eyjafjallajökull, the ice cap atop the stratovolcano that erupted and caused air travel disruption to the region in 2010. The other photos are from #Skógafoss, a #waterfall you've probably seen shared many times from anyone who's ever visited this fabulous country. It was cold, as you can tell.

Icelandic is quite fun in the sense that you can extend words, just like #Eyjafjallajökull is really just three words (Eyja, fjall [here singular but plural in the name] , jökull) which means island mountains' glacier.

You can have words like
vaðlaheiðarvegavinnuverkfærageymsluskúraútidyralyklakippuhringur (see https://www.visindavefur.is/svar.php?id=979) but there is no reason you can't extend that. I don't really know what the longest landmarks are though. Maybe @ltgorm knows?
