Critical to the understanding and acceptance of this model is the horizontal distribution of power. This is consistent with both the Zapatista and Rojava programs. Envision now a series of three concentric rings, with the individual instance as the smallest ring on the inside, the caracol the biggest on the outside.

The instance should have exactly as much agency as it does now (or perhaps in certain ways, even more). No capacity currently under the control of the instance is ceded to the outer rings of the fam and the caracol. Those rings are quite deliberately limited in their functionality, with the biggest being the most limited; their very purpose is to augment and devolve agency back in to the locality of the community.

This is the only chance for a construct of this nature to facilitate direct democracy and avoid hierarchical creep.

In this diagram, three groups of instances - Pan-African/Black liberation communities, radical queer communities, and anarchist communities - collectivize into fedfams, which in the Zapatista model are the equivalent of "communes". The three fedifams, which recognize each other as sufficiently ideologically aligned, then loosely form into a single caracol.

The purpose of the caracol is to comprise a trust treaty or "web of trust", which will ease the acceptance of new instances, that develop from within existing fams, into a broader federation. This would be useful or even necessary with a switch from exclusive blocklist-based moderation to inclusive allow-list federation. More on this later.

@Anarco @Radical_EgoCom @Dionysius Give alternative ideas for actions that will help people living in so called Ukraine then 😉 and for Kurds, Palestinians, Tibetans, EZLN etc. Usually you can send them some money, buy something from them like Zapatistas coffee, talk to other people about them, or actually go there and help. What do you think about people fighting in international units in Rojava against Turkish state? Is that bad too because of #antimilitarism? Rojava is a state, left-libertarian for sure, but still a state.

I keep watching stuff and reading stuff and looking at stuff and I re-found the #EZLN taking some online shitlords to task for saying they're not #Anarchist and I have to tell you it's still one of my favorite short reads out there. It's biting, it's direct, it's true, it's intelligent, and so on point it pirouettes in the slightest wind. They're a self organizing group of people coming together to resist the exploitative aggression of those around them. They're coming up with their own ways to solve their problems, and the solutions fit THEIR needs, not some arbitrary definition of a movement that wasn't even around when the colonizers showed up. That struck me as some of the most anarchist work out there. You should look at what the EZLN is doing, and the threat they're continually under.
