Love this paragraph from a book I rescued from a Council cleanup pile, MINI - The True and Secret History of the Making of a Motor Car by #SimonGarfield (#FaberandFaber 2009), highlighting the cleverness of advertisers even back in 1938:
The adverts now promised an astonishing 100 mph and 100 mpg [by the Morris Minor], but both feats were achieved separately, the first at Brooklands with a turbo attached, and the second travelling on a circuit between Birmingham and Coventry at 15 mph.
