Something randomly popped up in my feed, and several times I've had people make incorrect statements about this, so for today's #FactFriday I'm going to debunk the myth that " #Hail #Storms normally happen in Winter".

People who say this think "it's cold in Winter, so makes sense", but in actual fact the opposite is needed for hail (well, maybe if you live somewhere where it's already below freezing, but if not...). What is needed for hail to form in warmish climates is... heat!

and you may recall I talked about "there is no evidence" claims in my first #FactFriday post https://dotnet.social/@SmartmanApps/110869090048130445 and here we are with a "there is no convention" claims. ;-) So what they do is treat it like a more important form of multiplication, and so put it, not at Brackets, but just ahead of Multiplication... though this can STILL lead to wrong answers, because TDL and Terms - which they've lumped together - are quite different things...

Welcome to my first #FactFriday post, and it's about... #Facts themselves. :-) What is a #Fact actually?

1. Let's start with any person who says "we don't want to be an arbiter of truth" is being disingenuous. I have this in my profile here - Facts aren't arbitrary. Rain makes us wet and heat dries us off are facts. They are independently observable and verifiable, not decided/agreed upon, not arbitrary. These people are really saying "I don't want to ban the lies of people I agree with".

Wenn User:innen im Internet mit ihren Nacktbildern oder -videos erpresst werden, nennt man das #Sextortion =Sex + Extortion (Erpressung). Bei Rat auf Draht stiegen die Beratungsanfragen von Jugendlichen im letzten Halbjahr zu dieser Thematik um 39 %. Das Safer Internet Centre Österreich schafft Aufmerksamkeit und Bewusstsein für dieses Thema, damit Jugendliche wissen, wie sie mit dieser Herausforderung umgehen können.
