The upside of working for a state university is that the benefits, time off, and general conditions are fantastic; the downside is OH MY GOD SO MANY ONLINE TRAININGS. I'm doing the semi-annual faculty onboarding training and am hoping not to fail the LGBTQ unit this time because I'm freakin' LGBTQ myself and it's just embarrassing that I'm not up on such things. Yeeeesh.

I think one of the biggest surprises of #FacultyLife is the personal significance of the first time you put 'graduated PhD student', 'grants awarded', or 'papers published' on a CV and how that gives way to 'just another line on a CV' when you're doing it for the 3rd, 10th, or 50th time.
