Perhaps the final word on #Fadden from Mr Carlton on Twitter:
"Mike Carlton @MikeCarlton01
"Some facts about Fadden: 52,695 voters didnβt bother to turn up. Thatβs nearly 30%. And of those who did, 5,428 dickheads voted informal. The swing away from Labor was just 0.25%.
"In other words, an outbreak of raging apathy.
"The 4% swing to the Liberals was former Clive Palmer halfwits who had no candidate this time. Donβt expect to hear any of this from the grandees of the Canberra press gallery, though."

Strikes me that nothing much happened in the Fadden by-election. The LNP held a safe seat full of cranky retired geriatrics whoβve never voted Labor in their lives.

Dutton is crowing for winning an unloseable seat.

The reason for the small swing can be reasonably explained by adding in the conservative voters who in 2022 voted for United Australia party and the Lib Democrats.
UAP vote in 2022 was 6.63%
Lib Dems vote in 2022 was 2.83%
Neither of those 2 parties ran a candidate this time.
@Old_IT_geek
I think you're reading too much into it.
All it means is that the #ALP didn't win the seat of #Fadden.
If you reach the Indian Ocean, have a long satisfying drink in celebration that you're the farthest distance possible from #Fadden.

Given they've just elected the LNP successor to Stuart Robert, it's hard to argue the people of Fadden are that bothered about local crime. #FaddenVotes

Peter Dutton: "The people of Fadden have delivered a clear message".
Yeah that's the 8.1% (Biggest swing) who voted for Legalise Cannabis partyβοΈπ«
LNP spent $600k (per 7news), benefiting off no UAP or Lib dems running - currently with a status quo 2.6% swing. But ok. #auspol

I know this area; I used to sell solar power systems to homeowners there.
Mostly populated by rich retirees and the well off. I canβt imagine a more Liberal, or right wing stronghold that this one.
A lot of white people who would be convinced the Voice to Parlament is a pathway to them losing their property of some other privilege they get.
So not a bit surprised to see a swing back to the Liberals.
I reckon QLD will vote No for sure π
@joannejacobs @luciedigitalni Labor had to run a candidate ( snowballβs chance in hell not withstanding) The #LameStreamMedia & #LNP would have had a field day β Labor doesnβt care about #Fadden etc etc. Rusted on Liberal voters can enjoy having their representative sitting in opposition for a long time.#auspol
