So Twitter just became "X" now. So long little bird app. It was nice knowing you in the days of the #FailWhale and #Tweetups .

#Centralization is bad. The current massive #fail-ure of #Twitter is the best example. The infamous #FailWhale has returned and is bigger than ever.
And to be honest, I don't shed a single tear for #Twitter. It was always a questionable proprietary site before #ElonMusk, but under his rule it became much, much worse. #Proprietary software gives a small owner class unjust power over the many.
Let's embrace #decentralizaion and #FreeSoftware instead.

"Verified" becomes a badge of dishonor after Twitter checkmark confusion 🐳 #FailWhale
Twitter users are pushing back against Elon Musk's new pay-for-verification policy, with many journalists and celebrities opting to cancel their subscriptions instead of keeping their blue checks out of embarrassment.
Why it matters: Internet verification used to be a badge of honor. Now that it's achievable to anyone who is willing to buy it, it's become a signal of desperation.

@w7voa I tried to check if cbc still have their 69% government funded media label…. New #FailWhale?
@onthemedia Don’t believe what @npr spokesperson said in your show about Mastodon. Twitter is a #FailWhale, but Mastodon has completely replaced it for me. Not usability problems at at. We just feel the lack of search, but I don’t miss biased algorithms or capricious billionaires at all
OK, Twitter changes have finally fucked our ability to schedule posts to that hellhole site. Jesus effin #failwhale

I followed the SVB story a bit over the weekend. I'm not sure if I have it right, but my understanding is this:
1. SVB invested large chunks of their assets/deposits in bonds or similar instruments that would crash in value if interest rates rose.
2. Because, despite a couple thousand years of history, they figured the last few years of near-zero / inflation-adjusted negative rates were definitely Here To Stay. Interest rates don't go up!
3. Interest rates went up.
