The entrance to the main office of the former Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company in Govan, Glasgow. It was designed by John Keppie and was built in 1891.

Mermaid relief sculpture on the entrance to the old Fairfield Shipyard on Govan Road. Dating from 1890, the sculpture is by McGilvray & Ferris. This is actually one of a pair of mermaids (one on either side).
I wonder how many other mermaids there are on Glasgow's architecture that I've yet to find?

Carved keystone head over the entrance to the old Fairfield Shipyard on Govan Road. Dating from 1890, the sculpture is by McGilvray & Ferris.
Judging by the winged headdress, it represents Thor, the hammer-wielding Norse god of Thunder, which would be quite appropriate given the all the cacophony of noise created by ship-building.
