I still think #FakeNerdFightFriday doesn't quite for here.

As you noted it was emergent behavior. Your #ff emerged out of a bookmarking deficiency in Twitter. Mastodonb has that feature. Then the crazy behavior emerged out of that.

I would say I would be unlikely to participate here.

Tumblr might be a better fit for that...maybe? I haven't used it enough to know for sure

@WuMargaret @jacobydave I know my instance admin has to pay for storage and bandwidth, and the lack of a good ui for gif search slows it down too much to run a proper #fakeNerdFightFriday , but in this case I'll make an exception and throw a tire on the fire, for old times' sake.

@jacobydave @mjgardner I'm not sure if it quite fits the "spirit" of fedi.

#FakeNerdFightFriday is very much within the "culture" of twitter and what Dave made there.

Here, it might cause a lot of blockage and maybe even getting the boot from an instance.

@gizmomathboy I bugged @jacobydave to port his #ff script to #Mastodon last week and even pointed him to the APIs. Why he didn’t heed my demands immediately is completely beyond me.

I can hold on rather hard to some grudges or decisions. Sometimes to my own detriment.

@thomasfuchs One of the things that I enjoyed most about that old bird site was @jacobydave 's #fakeNerdFightFriday , which started as an automated #followFriday of his top 10 favorited people and rapidly degenerated into a wild GIFy free-for-all of nerdy braggadocio and posturing. Without the GIFs, it just isn't the same.
