Don't need to be able to see the MFDs, because I'm using VR. Having a ring of buttons to press, though, would be nice!
Ok, it's kind of weird to mostly know how to fly a flight sim, but also still be *really bad at it*.
I know how to shoot my missiles, but not when they're likely to hit. Then I learn how to tell when they're likely to hit, but I haven't learned how to make that *more* likely!
Shit's complicated. Who knew?
Damn, I'm so babied by the #DCS map. In #FalconBMS I can never tell where the enemy is going to be. Or, during BARCAP, even that enemies *have* appeared.
And so my wingman is all "permission to engage bandits, sir?" and I'm like "WHAT BANDITS? Uh, okay, sure" and then my wingmen goes and trashes them all while I'm still staring at my radar and TMS-left'ing, muttering "no, that's a friendly... No, that's a friendly..."
I just gave #FalconBMS a go. Absolute hell without head tracking, never mind without #VR support.
Damn shame, I remember the flight model in Falcon 4 was lot less forgiving than the one in #DCS, the air traffic control was way better, and there was a whole dynamic military campaign simulator in there. As in, it would play out a whole war, and generate missions for you to fly accordingly.
Apparently I could go and set up eye tracking using a webcam and such, if I had one. Maybe a project for another day (but if I know me, probably not).
Oh well.
