People do not go no contact with family for no reason. People often do not cut contact without explanation. There will have been some attempt to communicate issues, to repair the relationship or even an actual conversation about why ties are being cut. Sometimes however the person/people do not like what they hear or do not want to listen to what you have to say. #NecessaryEstrangement #FamilyEstrangement

One of the many reasons I've abandoned my family was what my Grandfather was shouting at me once: "People would like you more if you weren't the way you are." My jaw dropped to the floor after this. That wasn't about me, it was about him. His friends at poker night had a pity in him because of me being a gay girl. That's what outraged him. Instead of standing ground for me, he took that pity, and was holding me accountable for it had even happen.

I'm down to one brother and one cousin because of dysfunctional behaviors that no one in our family wants to cut off, let alone acknowledge. #FamilyEstrangement #FamilyDysfunction
