Jean Sabeston may have married James Whelan #OnThisDay 12 Sept 1868 in Greenock. Born 8 May 1835 to James Sabeston and his wife Jean Wilson, North Walls, #Orkney, #Scotland (living in Mill Bay area 1861 Census). Marriage record has her mother as Wason rather than Wilson, age 30 rather than 33, but husband younger. Dead before 1871 Census. Is it her? #OnePlaceStudy #OnePlace10 #FamilyHistory #Genealogy #Geneadons

@sfscotland itβs great when you can reach a conclusion. Iβm on the trail of someone said to have been in Australian Navy but have definitely found him in Merchant Navy, around Australia. A death or marriage would now be useful. #FamilyHistory

#FamilyHistory On September 11, 2001, hubby and I were vacationing in Rome. After learning of the deadly attacks on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon, we rushed to an Internet cafe to check on the safety of New York City family and friends--all OK, but in shock and mourning.
A terrible moment that will never leave my memory.

An interesting article - What do the British call their grandparents?
https://www.whodoyouthinkyouaremagazine.com/news/what-do-the-british-call-their-grandparents/
Personally I call my dad's parents nan and grandad.
I call mum's adoptive mum nan. I only really knew her 3rd husband who I'd call uncle Joe
Mum's birth parents I call mum's birth mother/father or occasionally grandmother and grandfather
What do you call yours?

I tend to use the #Ancestry "Edit Relationships" tab for sorting out "half sibling" issues ... it generally leads, I find, to better outcomes.
π€
#Ancestry tree hint du jour.
The orange parent hints suggesting parents for people in your tree ...
Where you have added children from a census where there is only one parent (typically a widow/er where their spouse died since the last census) ...
There will be "half siblings" created that need the deceased parent added ...
DON'T CLICK THE ORANGE HINT TO ADD THE MISSING PARENT ...
... because it currently adds the "parent" as a new person π§π³π€¨
No doubt it'll be sorted.
A new family history blog post is up!
