Anyone use #freed.ai or other #ai tools to complete #medical notes?
Even in the simpler #DPC model, taking notes is distracting while talking to patients and finishing notes later so that they are useful to others is a time consuming chore.
No relationship to freed.ai nor any other software, just hate this task and starting to read good things from colleagues online.

This has been discussed in the media and a big subject of advocacy for decades but apparently you can still publish a paper about it now.

We're a #directprimarycare #familymedicine practice but still run into this frequently with insurers, i.e. automatic denials, followed by complicated time consuming online forms and phone calls, even "peer to peer" for tests that meet their criteria.

Random "$ meets healthcare" thoughts from a 25 year #familymedicine doc:
1. The collapse of independent practices and hospitals into regional medical monopolies or oligopolies has been fascinating and horrifying. @pluralistic had some good insights into this recently.

It's interesting what locations have recruiters contact me. Often rural Alabama (I went to med school in Birmingham) or rural Tennessee, not far from where I did my rotations (north Alabama). Sometimes places like Newfoundland.
Today I got a recruitment email from Key West, just a day after the Florida Keys recorded a record ocean temp of 101. Coincidence?

@mike_johansen Not sure but it's small relative to hospitals and even VC. There are over a couple thousand of us in #DPC now which, considering it was just a handful 15 years ago, is pretty good growth and accelerating, not remaining small.

@mike_johansen Don't assume increasing primary care pay requires making it more expensive.
A bit part of the cost of primary care is the big staff needed to deal with insurance and payer caused inefficiencies.
My overhead in #directprimarycare #dpc is about 1/3 what it was in traditional third party paid practice. It's affordable for many middle class patients here.
Add a EBT card for a SNAP like paymenta for the poor and you can include them. We offer charity care for now.

@siege Makes me wonder if I can go #familymedicine once it comes time to apply for residency and be able to help trans people in my community or if I would be more effective doing a #paediatrics residency with an #adolescentmedicine or #paediatricendocrinology subspecialty training afterwards? I mean, I do want to be an expert but on the other hand, #carms is already a pain in the ass when you have to do it once. Twice is horrible.
