I just got about a hundred of my grandma's old recipes. Some I'm familiar with (cookie recipes). Some of them are standard Midwest dishes (fruit salad using canned fruit, jello, and cool whip).
And some of them are just too weird not to try out.
Like this pineapple casserole which uses pineapple chunks, shredded cheddar cheese, sugar, and crumbled Ritz crackers.

I need help this . Did anyone in your family make “wallpaper paste” with canned fruit cocktail?

Very likely a depression era, midwest thing.

My mother has a note that she claims reflects her Granny’s recipe. It is missing something. Everyone says it doesn’t “set up” but there is *nothing* in her recipe that would set up. Something is missing.

Can you help solve this mystery? Or boos this post?
