Want to keep everyone you love safe from scammers? Have multiple ways to contact them, and make certain they know you can be reached consistently via each of those methods. Encourage them to use those before downloading something new.

I got this message from my mother today, via Messenger. We regularly talk over a few different platforms, so she knew I could be reached by any one of them.

Smishing scams like this one draw on our deepest emotions. Fear. Love. Compassion. The need to protect each other. That’s why they succeed so often.
