My first glimpse of the Arc de Triomphe was the morning I landed in Paris. The downtown core was hosting a marathon, so busses weren't going there. I eventually found an Uber driver who was willing to brave the crowd and take me to my hotel. We passed right by the Arc, and I stared in awe. Of course, it was on my itinerary for another day, so I went back.
