Another lovely day in the forge. Worked on 2 knives. This week’s pruning and clearing gave me ideas on a couple newish direction for some hand tools also worked up more twist stock for hooks and jewellery. Came out of the shop to this view. #blacksmith #bladesmith #farmstead #amboywa

The current view from my porch as I take a break from pruning. Crows, eagles and jays are having a scream off and I’m testing a bill hook I made last fall when we moved up to Amboy. Built it according to classic examples but early tests were unimpressive. Funny thing, but after a few re-grinds and using the tool for the purpose it is actually designed for, copping and pruning, and it’s right up there with my sickle as my favourite garden tool. #blacksmith #farmstead #washingtonstate

Good morning Mastodontonians. Sunny, cold morning in Amboy. Eagles are up and screaming so watch your chickens. Big day as we’re moving the Starlink dish further into the north meadow (I’ll have to build a relay shed), putting two benches together I stained yesterday (they make red barn stain) and then over to a neighbours as we prep us adopt 3 of his goats, so today is a visit from the vet. #farmstead #washingtonstate
