In our #fasa1879 game yesterday, our dwarf pioneer stared down two Maxim machine guns in the rain to provide a distraction. The labor protest was able to break line of sight so they could get to the company town’s office and confront the company man. Under threat of strike, he agreed to meet with a labor council!

But who assassinated him later that evening and sabotaged the deal?

Five minutes after walking into the authoritarian company town, my #fasa1879 players have adopted the fledgling union movement as their own. @burrowowl @SteveTassie I play #earthdawn and #fasa1879, which use the same CoreStep system Earthdawn pioneered in the ‘90s. Earthdawn is an optimistic post-apocalyptic high-fantasy horror game (emphasize the aspect you like best in your home game) and 1879 is alt-history steamweird with notes of Shadowrun.

In our #fasa1879 game, the party is bringing to justice a couple of prospectors that murdered a native Gruv Saurid. The party has some high-level wilderness survival and navigation skills and I want them to have a sort of wilderness survival dual with the villains. What challenges could Alberta Eyre, Québécois, and John Crow, Zulu shaman (whose true name is none of your business), throw at the party?

@Snapai I’m not hugely experienced with pathfinder or DnD (I play #earthdawn and #fasa1879 mostly, and DnD with my kids), but changing a mid-tier game sounds overwhelming.

@bradfonseca #earthdawn and #fasa1879 by #fasaGames #fasa (there, got all my hashtags out of the way!) use defense target numbers Physical, Mystic, and Social. But lots of characters have active defense skills like Avoid Blow that are rolled against the attack result.

The earthquakes have weakened an industrial brick kiln, and it’s about to collapse and kill or injure dozens of people. Let’s pick that up again after the holidays, shall we?

Thinking about having the PCs go to a fancy party, give up their weapons, and then not get ambushed. Just keep asking them for perception tests over and over.

DnD and Pathfinder have organized play. I think they’re called Adventure League and pathfinder society. If there is a good game store near you that’s a good way to get into it. If the area is not trans-friendly, you can find online games on roll20, foundry, and other virtual tabletop websites. Welcome to the community!
