Why do they always get out of cars leaving the headlights on? Probably because otherwise the shot will be too dark. (Then there's cars with cab lights on as they are being driven..)

Though was aware of 's film QUERELLE (1982), based on his novel QUERELLE DE BREST (1947), he declined to have anything to do with its production, claiming that he could no longer remember the novel's contents. He apparently never saw the finished product, allegedly saying he wouldn't go see it because smoking wasn't allowed in movie theaters.

's 14-part German tv mini-series based on the novel is on youtube with quite good resolution.
