@val @glightly The #FatLiberation (and other tags like #FatAcceptance and #FatActivism) tag is quieter here, but following that has helped me find a few folks here and there.
I don't have good recs for black feminism, unfortunately! That's something I'm on the lookout for as well.

This week's fat joy is me at last week's Sequim Lavender Festival! It's one of the highlights of my year. We hit the festival at the fairgrounds, then go berry picking at one of the local farms that opens up for the weekend.
I was super cute in my Maya Kern/Serglesinner peony skirt and green top, too, but forgot to get a photo before I covered up the nice top to protect it and swapped the skirt out for leggings.

This @NewYorker piece by Jia Tolentino, is a MUST-READ if you care about any of the following:

Welp, it's finally happened that I've found #fatacceptance pseudo-science bullshit in the wild. A classmate/fellow intern of mine has informed me that intentional weight loss is inherently fatphobic and tantamount to eugenics.
Which...I know this person and I'm not surprised because she holds a lot of nonsensical woke beliefs, but even so. Wow.
This is not remotely a valid expression of #bodypositivity, folks. Being obese is literally bad for you, mmkay? Good lord.

Shopping for items that supposedly have a high weight capacity and the "high" is usually 300 pounds. Do better for our fat friends, please.

Maybe someone more involved in #FatAcceptance can help me out here with recommendations? I like to give good #ImageDescriptions that include relevant details and I want to be as #BodyPositive as possible. But text based communication poses some serious challenges when it comes to tone and implications. #Accessibility #Fatphobia

I have no issue with using the word "fat" without meaning anything negative (because using euphemisms implies that being fat is such a bad thing that it's insulting to even acknowledge a simple fact about someone's body).
I think fat activists are right: it's just a freaking normal body shape, and we don't have to whisper about it.
BUT THEN...
@fruitcake Yeah, I feel like there is not al lot of fat activism on here. Or at least I havenāt found a whole lot of people who talk about it.
There are some though, so I follow several hashtags to try and not miss any posts about it: #FatAcceptance #FatLiberation #FatActivism #AntiDiet
I hope our community will still grow on here!

It makes our head spin.
#FatAcceptance advocates say it's wrong to seek #ObesityCare because obesity is not a real medical problem.
#FatPhobic folks reject it because healthy choices will solve the problem.
New research documents the resulting #stigma.

Letās talk about #DescriptiveLanguage:
FAT is a descriptive adjective & noun.
OVERWEIGHT includes a negative judgment. We donāt say āHeās OVERHEIGHT.ā
OBESE is a medical termāand a pathologizing label. It has a history & its parameters have changed over time.
All of these words may be used or understood as epithets.
The terms #FatAcceptance, #Fatshion, #FatPolitics, #FatLiberation, etc. reclaim the word as neutral while highlighting that itās not a neutral thing to be fat in this world.

Something I'm missing from Twitter is all the #FatLiberation and #FatAcceptance folks I used to follow. I'm searching on hashtags and trying to find people, but if you have a recommendation of someone to follow, let me know.
I'm fat! There. I said it now for the millionth time. Fat shame me? I'm ok with it. I hate being fat. I know it's not healthy, not attractive and not good for my mental health. I stress eat and have the health complications to show for it. Yes, I got myself there and I need to fix it.
Note - this is my personal feeling. Some people embrace their fat and I'm happy for them. I don't agree but it's their life.

Being an unapologetic fat person in this world is a radical act of resistance. You just have to exist. When you try to walk, eat, laugh or have any fun in public youāre an fat activist. Being fat in this world is fucking hard. And brave.
