@InfernalTeddy I was just thinking about #Toon as a candidate for the upcoming "funniest" #RPG, having played it 30ish years ago.

I think I'd now run it with #FateRPG. It could keep the classic Muscles/Zip/Moxie/Chutzpah as the skills (minimal #FateAccelerated-style). Fate "Conditions" (temporary aspects from getting hurt etc.) seem more cartoon-y than hit points anyway. And those toons are always getting into trouble from their instincts/nature ("aspect compels"). I think it has potential...

Old game you still play

Hmm, I don't want to repeat myself too much here, but I'm still playing the #DresdenFiles game by @evilhat though there has been a new rules edition and the simpler #dresdenfilesaccelerated came out.

The reason is probably that for a campaign, #FateAccelerated is not deep enough for me.

Also still playing #dsa 4th edition.

Smartest #RPG you played

Hmmm. Tough one.

This year? I did not play so many new systems.

Either #fateaccelerated that boils down fate to the bare essentials. Because it activates players to participate and facilitates improvisation and character involvement.

Or #poweredbytheapocalypse #pbta in the #monsterhearts version, because it fantastically boils down characters to the cliché while still facilitating diversity in the characters.

What's your smartest game 2023?

The characters are in a luxury passenger airship flying out of a slightly alternative 1930s London towards Paris, powered by newly invented electro-arcane engines. The cabin lights die, the emergency lighting comes on. In the corridor outside the lounge is the crumpled shape of a body. What caused the lights to die? And who is the seemingly comatose patient who was stretchered onto the lower deck under armed guard just before takeoff? #faterpg #ttrpg

I think it's finally time to do my #introduction ! I'm hesitant to say a lot bc my #ADHD keeps me from staying with one hobby for too long.

What I can say is I'm a married #trans #lesbian and ancom.

My intermittent hobbies include:

- #programming casually, hopefully in #rust going forward,
- speaking just enough #TokiPona to make sure I don't totally lose the language,
- math (esp trig and calc), and

If you're looking for a more character-driven #TTRPG with more intuitive rules, try #FATEAccelerated for a light ruleset perfect for one-shots, or any game in the #FATERPG family.

The systems are setting and genre agnostic.
I've run a murder mystery set as a prequel to "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?", a heist set in a summer camp for undead kids, and what was supposed to be a grim Star Wars game set on a starving planet shortly after the fall of the empire.
My 1 PC that game was a vending machine.

For storygames: #Spark, or #FateAccelerated Edition

For more traditional "crunchy" games: #HARP or #BasicRoleplaying.

For nostalgia reasons: #SpaceOpera or #PsiWorld.

But these change around as my mood does. Sometimes #Mythic shows up in the story game category instead, for example, or #Rolemaster shows up in place of HARP for traditional games, or #MazesAndMinotaurs in place of Basic Roleplaying. Etc. etc.

Very cool to have Gumshoe season by both Pelgrane and other makers of Gumshoe games, just agreed with Sons of Singularity for them to run Between the Devil and the Deep, a scenario called Release the Catch. #ttrpg #gumshoe #shamus #fateaccelerated

Just got home from running a #FateAccelerated one shot. The "It's Not My Fault!" scenario starter cards are very helpful for pickup games and introducing people to the system.

We had a rocky but very fun start to our pen and paper adventure. So I guess it was a success as everyone was having a great time.

@laidbackdm That’s really tough. I’d have to go with #GURPS 3rd edition, but these days it’s either #FateAccelerated or some home brew madness.

Two nights ago, I dreamed I was creating a superhero #TTRPG campaign that featured character generation from #InvisibleSun and the #FateAccelerated system.
