I'll be talking more about that last thing in next week's newsletter, which you can find at the usual location. In the meantime, I'm mostly around on discord these days and posting publicly as I have energy.

In het mensenrechtenbeleid van de stad Reykjavik is 'lichaamsbouw en -type' specifiek opgenomen als aparte categorie, wat o.a. betekent dat het verboden is om mensen te discrimineren op basis van hun gewicht.

This week's fat joy is me at last week's Sequim Lavender Festival! It's one of the highlights of my year. We hit the festival at the fairgrounds, then go berry picking at one of the local farms that opens up for the weekend.

I was super cute in my Maya Kern/Serglesinner peony skirt and green top, too, but forgot to get a photo before I covered up the nice top to protect it and swapped the skirt out for leggings.

Fat joy can be loud and boisterous, or it can be quiet and peaceful.

We need every possible kind of joy -- not only because we deserve to experience joy, but because so much of our lives is constrained by systems and people who want us to shrink into tiny, sad, colorless existences.

Stretch towards a full-experience (pun joyfully intended) with me: bit.ly/bodyliberationguide

I guess I should post something eventually, so it might as well be this:

You are not “too” fat because, well… there’s no such a thing.

@fruitcake Yeah, I feel like there is not al lot of fat activism on here. Or at least I haven’t found a whole lot of people who talk about it.

There are some though, so I follow several hashtags to try and not miss any posts about it:

I hope our community will still grow on here!

Let’s talk about :

FAT is a descriptive adjective & noun.

OVERWEIGHT includes a negative judgment. We don’t say “He’s OVERHEIGHT.”

OBESE is a medical term—and a pathologizing label. It has a history & its parameters have changed over time.

All of these words may be used or understood as epithets.

The terms , , , , etc. reclaim the word as neutral while highlighting that it’s not a neutral thing to be fat in this world.

Something I'm missing from Twitter is all the and folks I used to follow. I'm searching on hashtags and trying to find people, but if you have a recommendation of someone to follow, let me know.

If you want to smash the but don't include fat people, you're not really smashing it.

If you want to be , but don't include fat people, you're not really anti-racist.

If your all about , but don't include fat people, you're not really anti-fascist.

Same applies to , , , and many more, because:

NoBODY is safe until everyBODY is safe.

According to antifatness, the goal of every fat person at all times must be to reduce and launder their fatness as much as possible for the consumption of thin people. Most if not all fat people in antifat cultures are implicitly if not explicitly aware of this. It effects how fat people think, feel, dress, move, speak, breathe, and how, when, where, why, and if they eat.

Fat bellies are seen and treated as obscene in ways that flat bellies just simply aren't.

Tonight I realized I don't miss having a thinner body *and also* I really miss the loads and loads and loads of social advantages being thinner gave me.

It's so gross to realize that the only reason I wish I wasn't fat now is because of how much better people treated me when I was much thinner. Most areas of my social life were a lot easier. (Some areas are still good/the same.)
