My favorite things to do:

Spend summers at the cabin in the Upper Peninsula

Cook dinner from scratch just about every night

Read a good book

Collect books (I have around 1000)

Go swimming in Higgins Lake

Listen to the 12 year old tell me their stories

Have family over to spend time at the lake

Hang out with my elderly dog

Go visit my parents in North Dakota (though I would prefer summer visits- it gets unbearably cold there)

What was your most favorite gift ever?
Mine is from my now adult siblings. When they were very young (4 and 6) and I was in college, they wrapped up their toy hammer for me. I loved it so much. I used it through all of college. And I still cherish and use this small hammer for house projects. It fills me with joy every time I see it. There’s something about a kid giving you one of their prized possessions as a gift.
