Dean Allen saw where social media were going even before they all tied likes to the algorithm and why it's good that favourites don't matter except to the people receiving and handing them out.

Over on the bird site, @extraface mentioned favstar.fm as his favorite birdsite era. I agree, it was so great seeing what the top favorited tweets were for a given day/week and finding new, funny, interesting folks to follow.

I do wonder, does the Mastodon API allow for someone to build something similar here? Would be a great tool for discovery in these early days.
