I realized a while back that I'm just not a singer. But it wasn't until #SynthV came along that I had a feasible solution to my problem (my shitty voice).

Now, listening to all these songs in #FAWM and #fiftysongs90days, most of these people are not singers, either. A lot of times, I'm thinking, the song is not bad at all but it's too cringy to listen to because the singing is just too distracting.

I've got a new song called "The Witching Hour", written for 50/90, a summertime sister event to #FAWM (February Album Writing Month). I always love to cover musical ground I haven't before, and this one certainly qualifies. For lack of a better term, I'm calling it "American gothic blues". Pardon the extended intro; the song felt too short to me without it.

@jrp gb brought people together solely based on their musical output and regardless of their self marketing skills. no other platform has done that since

(ok, one could argue that #FAWM is like that, but with FAWM there is also the phenomenon that those who write the most reviews also receive the most attention. on gb you *had* to listen in order to get somewhere, and that led to quite a few discoveries. I still have an earworm from such a discovery; unfortunately I never heard from them again)

Listening to a track from last #FAWM through the new speakers and the mix holds up pretty well. There are some things that I want to fix, but those will involve changing the drum track in DM2, and re-recording most of the parts, both of which I was planning to do anyway. Otherwise, there aren't a lot of gains to be made from tweaking the mix.
At least not now. I expect I will get a lot better at hearing faults in a mix over the next year or so.

Spouse and I are home in the Netherlands after a 4-day drive. We're both very tired and not feeling our best, but we'll both have a lot of stuff to do over the next few months. For me, it's going to be two months of intense comic time. I'm thinking 3 hours of primary art production and 5 hours of image processing for various purposes per day until caught up with all I need to do.

Then: #FAWM 50/90! 50 songs in 90 days.

It was part of a #songwriting exercise where you write a song based on a card drawn from a Dark Mirror deck of cards...I drew the #addiction card...it was pretty gruesome...this is what popped out.
(I don't get to embrace my "inner Sabbath" often... hahaha)
