Sunday morning newspapers, still a thing.
Banner raising last night at the Patty Gym for the UAF Rifle Team, 2023 NCAA National Champs. 11th overall title for the Nanooks.
Same 😅 happens every year, small allocation of duck stamps to every office and if you order more they come via the barge and take so long to get here that they usually don't come till after season
Late to the party with this, probably. Fun song/vid nonetheless...

Of the latitude 66 aurora borealis life
Good stuff is happening all around me
People are high-fiving
People are freaking out "
- The Front Bottoms: Fairbanks, Alaska
Teachers in Fairbanks have a new contract after 20 months of negotiations.
What's good for them is good for us. A rising tide lifts all boats.
And this:
"The school board also voted unanimously to recognize October 9 as Indigenous People’s Day, replacing the day usually celebrated as Christopher Columbus Day."
(apologies if article is behind paywall)
End of the road.
Is #Fairbanks a walkable town?
Depends on your definition of walkable. And the time of year. And what you need in the way of scenery. And how long your car is in the shop.
Today, yes, Fairbanks is a walkable town, but I'm willing to cede the point to those who disagree.
Many Google Street Map views of #Fairbanks are well outdated and pretty unhelpful.
Here's the most current shot of the old Foodland building on Lacey. Date: 2007. Vacant and boarded up.
(Note: the Co-op Grocery has been doing business here since 2013.)
Inaugural year with our gardens has been a bountiful one. The harvesting of homegrown produce is bound to end at some point, but not quite yet.
Thanks again to the vendors at Tanana Valley Farmers Market for setting us up with starters last Spring.

Not sure Fairbanks still lays claim to being at the "End of the Alaska Hi-Way".
Also note the Start/Finish line banner for the Yukon 800 Marathon (a 2-day high speed riverboat race).

FAI sweet FAI. Good to be home.
Sorry to miss out on this year's Fairbanks Animal Shelter Fund Garage Sale out at the fairgrounds (just today and tomorrow) - if you're going I hope you find something cool (or practical) that you didn't even know you wanted.
With the Safeway and Fred Meyer stores practically abutting one another at both ends of town, it seems likely that one or more of the stores would be shuttered if the Kroger-Albertsons merger goes through.
“Alaska already has an incredibly concentrated grocery store market, and potential divestments of stores resulting from the merger would threaten both competition and basic food security in the state.” - U.S. Rep. Mary Peltola, D- Alaska
