Well, that was way easier than I expected...

I suppose I should have gone directly to the git repo source instead of finding a blog from 2018 that references the repo.

For #Arch, I can just do the normal encryption at install, then afterwards add in my yubikey + challenge to allow either my ridiculously long and tedious passphrase or the yubikey/simplified challenge to decrypt things.

Does anyone have an updated guide for installing #Arch with full disk encryption - using a #yubikey as part of MFA decryption?

There are a few old articles/blogs - but some of them seem quite outdated. I found this: https://www.endpointdev.com/blog/2022/03/disk-decryption-yubikey/ for Ubuntu that looks like it would work for Arch - if I use dm-crypt?

I'm currently running LMDE with encrypted root and unencrypted boot on my main laptop, but thinking of moving to newly released Debian Bookworm with full disk encryption (FDE) setup.

I've got a base install using #FDE ( Full Disk Encryption ) on my #ThinkPad P14s AMD Ryzen 7 Pro and networking setup. That's enough for tonight and tomorrow I'll do the rest.
Will I regret this ? I don't know but unless I try I'll never know after all life is too short to wonder what if. We are only here once and nobody is guaranteed a tomorrow. 🙃

I use LUKS1, but due to expected vulnerability I would propose LUKS2.
From performance point of view the encryption have less impact, especially with newer CPUs which have hardware acceleration.
Only disadvantage is the long time at boot, especially if you use grub.

OK #Fediverse I'm looking at maybe using #FDE ( Full Disk encryption ) on my home #Linux laptop.

Whilst browsing #GitHub repos for #VoidLinux information I stumbled across this interesting looking Void Linux installer that seems to do just about everything from #fde to #Pipewire audio setup and the choice of base install or DM / WM.
I haven't tried it yet but it may help others ?

Finally was able to setup #Ubuntu server with #BTRFS, #LUKS Full disk encryption (#FDE), auto decrypt partitions with a USB key without need to enter LUKS password on boot and loving it ❤️.

I thought of trying #Fedora server but realized Fedora only uses BTRFS for Desktops not for servers.

I then went for #OpenSuse leap. Installation was smooth BTRFS+FDE+snapshots all with a few clicks which I thought is awesome but had trouble setting up other things like auto decrypting partitions, and other simple things. It is a great distro but the documentation is not that great especially if you want to do something out of the ordinary. That plus my unfamiliarity with the distro made it slightly difficult to use for the server for now.

So gave #UbuntuServer another try and was able to set it up just the way I like. Need to setup snapshots for backups, etc but this is good so far. Thank you all for the hand holding in my previous thread 😊
