#fdotd is #KernelBrewery Amarillo - easy drinking pale ale, going down a treat.

This is how I decompress from being very much “on” at work this morning.

Not quite #fdotd but enjoyable nevertheless. Kinda tropical & dank, very tasty but something about the aftertaste that I’m not 100% convinced by. Still, appropriately named for the day I’ve had, or any Friday really

Day 21. #AHoppyPlace #BeerAdventCalendar is Père Noël, a Belgian Christmas ale from De Ranke brewery. Got a lovely spicy taste, reminiscent of cloves & maybe banana. Lovely drop

19th day of #BeerAdventCalendar from #AHoppyPlace is this American Pale Ale, King Street from Wild Weather, another #Berkshire brewery.

It’s very nice - drinkable and light. Nothing special but a perfectly enjoyable #fdotd

Day 18. #fdotd “Born to be a box salesman” from Berkshire-based Double-Barrelled Brewery. A very tasty #AmericanBrownAle at 4.8%. Not as sweet as I feared but with notes of burnt toffee & caramel. Highly drinkable, would buy again 8/10

Took me until the second sip to get the orangey undertones but they are there in this chocolate stout from Siren, which is #beer 17 from the #AHoppyPlace #BeerAdventCalendar

At 10% abv I’m reluctant to recommend a Cointreau chaser but it definitely would work!

#fdotd is Day 15 of the #AHoppyPlace #BeerAdventCalendar which is a Sticke Bier from #AnspachAndHobday

Apparently a sticke bier is usually a stronger version of an #altbier from Dusseldorf.

It’s only 5.5% abv though so not that strong. Very tasty though - lots of toffee, caramel notes. Reminds me of Harvey’s Bonfire Boy which I guess is just an English ‘old beer’

I don’t know this brewery, Stardust from Berkshire, but this tasty hazy pale is very good and at 4.8% fine for a Tuesday evening in my book.

#fdotd very nice indeed. I usually find west coast IPAs a little sharp for my taste but this hazy number with stone fruit notes is not really distinguishable from an NEIPA to my palate AND I LIKE IT!!

Going back to day 9 of #AHoppyPlace #BeerAdventCalendar as I skipped it during the week.

It’s Overtone Brewing Co from #Glasgow with a chocolate, nougat & honey imperial #stout 10% abv

Honestly a bit sweet for me but very good in front of the fire on a cold winter night. Substitute for a hot chocolate I guess #beer #fdotd

Going back to some of the #BeerAdventCalendar beers I didn’t drink this week

#fdotd is the raspberry vanilla & pink Himalayan salt sour 23-19 from Birmingham’s Dig Brew Co.

I shouldn’t like this, I don’t like raspberry-flavoured things. And yet, something about the sourness contrasting with the expectation of sweet, the creaminess, the Proustian rush of childhood memories evoked by it, dunno, it’s actually pretty good

So day 3 of #BeerAdventCalendar from #AHoppyPlace. It’s the famous Elusive Brewing with a none-more-seasonal Mince Pie Barleywine.

It’s certainly an interesting multilayered taste experience with notes of spices & caramel but mainly banana to my palate. Goes very well with an actual hot mince pie but at 9% abv this is very much a one-off #beer #fdotd

Day 2 of #AHoppyPlace #BeerAdventCalendar is this extraordinary sour #beer which is thick, sweet and makes me think of lucozade or something. Novel and delicious #fdotd

#Beer number 1 from my A Hoppy Place #BeerAdventCalendar is this Uncharted Gravity Triple IPA from Heist Brew Co. Very thick, mango flavours, lovely herbaceous nose, but at 12% ABV a bit much for me! Great to try something out of my usual range though. 6.5/10 #fdotd
