@tg9541 It’s certainly daunting, but we can’t easily dismiss the venerable advice that we can live truly well only if we have escaped the morbidly neurotic fear of death — and that that’s possible only if we have truly accepted the fact of our mortality.

Ned Rorem died Friday morning at his Manhattan home. “Why do I write music? Because I want to hear it. It's simple as that.”

I learned of his passing when I noticed people sharing the video I made for @meganmariehart singing his art song "Fear of Death." What a strange, strange world we live in.
