I don't understand the obsession with having search on Mastodon. Findability is there with hashtags, although you may have to find the right ones for what you want. It's ok that you're not "up to speed" right on day 1. Joining any community takes time - time to learn the people, the norms, the baggage.

What are the use-cases?

@asbestosstar Yet they claim I was banned from participating with no evidence ground in the rules, banned team mates, banned people who use #FeatureCreep , banned who knows who else, made false claims about me, and more. There was no reason to believe that I was banned from the event itself.

and make a whole new app from the ground up, lessons learned, that has the /new/ features?

ya know, I used to like #Signal because of all the shit it didn't have. Like stickers, stories, cryptocurrency, payments, video calls, or reactions.

It just did messaging and voice calls, and it was decent at it. Better at messaging than voice, but still decent. All these other things that Signal keeps cramming into their messaging app are making it look more and more like an amalgamation of whatsapp, instagram, wechat, or [insert popular app here].

I understand that these are features designed not for their long-time users, but for attracting new users, but I sure do find it grating to have to accept (or if I'm lucky, opt OUT) all of these new features when all I still want is encrypted messaging and (begrudgingly) voice calls.

That's all.

Decided to try KDE once again. Did a fresh Arch install for good measure too. I never thought I'd say this, but there's too many options and settings. It's like the developers have lost all focus and shoved as many features as they could into it. And I'm an advanced user.

Unfortunately I've hit the age-old issue of a homelab.
I don't have a VM template ready to go, so rather than set up a brand new VM (AGAIN), I'm looking into the proper method of VM templating.

I must learn this and get it working before I can deploy a Jitsi VM. So now, I'm getting ready to create a CentOS template VM, pre-install the required keys for ansible, create a template from it, then set up the deployment capability within VSphere.

THEN I can start looking at getting Jitsi deployed.

The only issue then, is that I need somewhere to store and version-control my ansible scripts, so I'm going to need to set up the correct git infrastructure for it before I start slinging playbooks all Willy-Nilly.
