Buffy Sainte-Marie was born #OTD in 1941. She found early success singing about drug addiction, against the Vietnam war, the legacy of genocide, and other themes. She was among the first Native Americans to appear on Sesame Street, and the first woman to breastfeed on television. Despite being blacklisted for her work, she was later honored with an Oscar and other accolades.
