Say passed a wealth tax where individuals with wealth over $1 million would be billed a monthly wealth tax at an annualized rate of 3%. But if inflation was above target, the Fed could raise the monthly bill to an annualized rate as high as 8%. They could also bring it back down, but not below 3%.

If people with money had a higher monthly bill, maybe they wouldn’t buy as many houses, cars, boats, etc., and the could do something about demand-side inflation in a targeted way

When central banks (CB) attack the demand side of inflation, they should employ at least some tactics that target upper incomes or wealth. After all, those targets are most responsible for demand-side inflation:

There are probably many ways to do this, and they start with congress/parliament. My idea was to set a base wealth tax, and empower the CB raise the rate when inflation is high.
