Even the person who made that icon has stopped defending it against the one we produced in collaboration w him, he was a hard critic til we got it right. See our pinned thead. FreedCreative was also involved, but is no longer on fedi afawct. It took collaborators from Jan21 to mid-22 to get this usable design. Almost everyone who is not ex-military prefers the #fediOrigami variant. Military people and pentograms, right?

It was done for a more usable icon for general use on websites. As you may see in the thread the story is very simple. Someone in Jan'21 said fedi has no "official icon", and we, an Australian-based supporters group, realised they were right, there is a real need for something more usable than the seldom used variant at the time, and…3/4

We produced How-To-Draw for the #fediverseIcon.

It was produced completely without measurements and somehow we produced it at #A4 (1mm off — ie. 211mm rather than 210). We produced it for the web anyway — so don't even think about #printing it!

Pleased to announced v3.

Something wasn't sitting right. A friend we miss, Freed Creative, said rounded edges suit fedi better, we went and tried that and it solved our annoyance. Also improved the colours of 'party' version, and shapes generally.

Now also with both an on-light and on-dark sticker.

As promised here is v2 of the #fediOrigami design.

More chilled, subtle brown, fixed the green (decided against exact fedivert), shorted the green base so the icon is slightly more square (does make it more clear).

It includes gradients and is more suited to websites that are going for a more colourful, vibrant look.

Pleased to showcase our last Fediverse icon design. We're calling it '#fediOrigami'.
