I keep seeing people clutch their pearls about people "scraping" the #fediverse. I wonder how best one could do that without a bunch of conservative scolds nimbying them into a block list.

You'd probably need one domain for consuming #activityPub that feeds data to a public domain where users could search/analyze/whatever with it, and just prepare for the consumer to get #fediblocked on a daily basis.

@Graycot @albinanigans There are a lot of people who are extremely salty about #ufoi due to its association with the qoto.org admin, who has lashed out on a couple of occasions and gotten qoto #fediblocked. The qoto local timeline is cordial and non-problematic, but some admins are evidently comfortable banning all qoto users due its admin's missteps, and paint #ufoi as a nefarious project to quietly platform Nazis.

It's all pretty fucking stupid, tbh.

I did the same.
I don't think it's the same here as it was there. #Mute and #Block are IMO for personal preference. #Report is for #hate shit that better be #Fediblocked if neccesary or #Mastodon isn't worth the bother. So far, so good. I know it takes more #time and #patience to do things in essence by #consensus but I love consensus sooo much everywhere I have witnessed it practiced. So I am giving it time.

My other instance just #fediblocked another server, which means I can no longer follow anyone on that server, or even see posts of anyone I was already following who's on that server. This is in addition to that instance's prior #block of journa.host (and the less extreme 'silencing' of .social and .online). Very frustrating. Serious "Good Place" vibe but without the Janet or any humor whatsoever.

Why are so many of the #fediblocked instances full of anime (and rather horrible, NSFW and NSFL ones) ? Why is there this overlap of liking anime and being a POS human? How did this become a thing?

Is there any way to check what instances are federating with what other instances? Like, if I’m here on mastodon.social and I want to see a list of instances we are blocking and federating with? It is kinda weird that I saw one instance get #fediblocked for use of reclaimed slurs to describe gay and trans people and then see a bunch of people defederate from that instance with the reason “homophobes”

I feel like there is some merit to the claim that people use the hashtag unthinkingly, if not outright maliciously

@jumbanho mine is much lower ☹️. I guess I follow a lot of (normie) journalists who aren't budging (yet). Also worried about how many are getting on journa.host which is getting #fediblocked by many instances for allowing fashie pundits to join
