@megalodon The latest pre-release #megalodon version is otherwise working great, but in the mornings, when I haven't been checking for like 8 hours, I get a big, non-recoverable hole in the timeline. Same problem in #tusky when reading from oldest to newest.
If I use the web interface I can see loads of posts that never appear in the app. Is this a problem with the Mastodon api, not being able to fetch old posts before new or something?
But somehow #fedilab manages to get all the posts.

#fedilab bietet drei Funktionen die meine Nutzung des Fediverse richtig gut machen:

- Hashtags folgen

- Hashtags muten

- Retröts von einzelnen Usern muten.

Die letzte Funktion nutze ich gerne, wenn die erstellten Tröts eines users interessant sind, aber sonst jeder Schnick-Schnack retrötet wird.

Intressant att när Fedilab översätter från tyska till svenska så "översätts" även alla emoji.

The indentation is a nice idea, but it doesn't really work, at least not for me. The thin lines in the left margin are just confusing, so I've turned off indentation altogether. If you use lines, they should not be so thin, and maybe not in the margin. It's not possible to distinguish the different colors if you don't have perfect eyesight. Maybe take a look at how some other apps handle threads, there are good and bad examples.

@neutronwrangler @apps Exactly! There were actually a couple of Twitter apps that had this feature. I used Plume for years and got used to reading in the natural direction.

The reverse order we have now is especially irritating when reading replies, replies to replies and threads.

Btw, the thread view in #fedilab should be done over, it is not functional.

@blue_led @apps This was an issue in earlier versions but I have not seen it lately. The app seems to remember my position very well and the timeline hardly moves at all when automatically fetching new messages. This is maybe the single best feature of #fedilab 🙂

If we have to improve the UI for messages, what would you expect?

PS: there are already some customizations (remove left margin, display counters, change colors). #Fedilab

Testing #fedilab again. Works fine but the UI is still not nearly as nice as the functions. Here is an example: unnecessary double icons.

@JohnConstableRA I have an #Android phone, and I never used the generic Mastodon app but started directly with one of the alternatives (currently #Tusky, thinking about a switch to #fedilab)

From what I understand is that many #iPhone users have also switched to one of the other apps (basically to anything but #Mastodon), like #IceCubes, #Toot, #Mammoth, #Mona or #Ivory. Some are free, others paid. You could check the posts from @feditips.

I don't agree. Not at all. I haven't the slightest knowledge of computer science and I feel much comfortable on the #Fediverse than on Twitter or on LinkedIn. I use #Fedilab and #Tuba as clients on my devices. After a while, it has become one of my most regular connection habits. Almost relaxing.
