I feel like this is an amazing time to live in but nobody acknowledges it.

Many proprietary platforms are dying at the hands of investors.
Meanwhile, open source is flourishing and building up an amazing ecosystem that (at least for me) takes out the need for most proprietary software. The only proprietary stuff i use (besides broadcom drivers) are discord and video games.

Je me rends compte que sur le Fedivers plus qu'ailleurs : le fait de pouvoir tout dire ne justifie pas que l'on dise n'importe quoi.

Chaque post est une invocation qui peut être présentée à n'importe qui.

Alors c'est important de bien se tenir et de parler correctement

I'm not even sure if Legend of the Red Dragon was a good game. It was a time and place. The community and feel of those BBSs in the 90s. In a way it kind of reminds me of the feel of the fediverse now. Small communities loosely stitched together. I'm not sure how to recapture the gaming aspect of that though.

A Fediverse of many small instances, as opposed to a few large ones, doesn't solve the problem of abusive behavior. But it would sure make moderating and quarantining the abuse a lot easier.

Racism, transphobia, antisemitism, ableism, etc., aren't caused by server size; they're systemic. Systemic problems repeat themselves, as do systemic solutions. Transformative change is easier to build at the micro level than the macro.

Any Fedi projects out there focused on translation/localization? For example, something along the lines of a TMS but it could federate and allow real translators (not AI) to directly translate and localize content across the fediverse.

I know a lot of us newbies joined servers in a confused panic for some random reason - I made my decision based mostly on the presence of a capybara.

But I hope most people will ultimately go on to join smaller instances with friends, colleagues,communities,etc. It seems to me one of the biggest dangers to the Fedi's future is de-facto centralization; a majority of users distributed between a few large servers.

@alexhaist @tara I also feel hesitant at using hashtags because they feel like awkward pandering to me, like I'm begging for attention. Also because I have to think separately "okay, where can I add hashtags?", because I have zero sense for what should have hashtags.

For example, should I hashtag #hashtags in this message? What about #awkward? Or, if I'm feeling particularly shameless, what about #psychology, #fedithoughts, #mastothoughts?

Or maybe I'm just #shy...?
