MastodonApp.UK's local timeline is, unsurprisingly, dead at this time of day. Vivaldi's local timeline is at the time that I post this almost as active as MastodonApp.UK's is during the day, and is a good reminder that the Anglosphere is not the be-all and end-all.

We need to find ways to resist this.

currently gives 1348 #FediverseInstances.

Instance admins/moderator teams need to start preparing for moderation and inter-instance blocking when there are 100,000 or so instances. And techies/community can think about how to do that consistently with Fediverse goals and ethics.

WE'LL BE BLOCKING #fediverseInstances and cloudFlare supporters mas.to, mstdn.io, and #gleasonator soon.

We were informed mas.to are back on cloudFlare and last we checked, gleasonator is cf'd.

All people of interest to us have already been notified, on this servers and we will pin this toot so others experiencing issues who check our timeline will understand.

For two years we've been arguing for all #FediverseInstances to have onionsites.

Every single instance on #Fediverse should officially be embarrassed today.

Flepping #Twitter has beat us to this.

We may save face by going one-up on this and jumping to #eppsites too. We think #I2P has a number of benefits overs Tor, including every node being a router and humanReadable addresses.

Only a few instances we know are made for I2P (see #Epicyon).

A couples other things, we don't like to chain #hashtags in a sentence for the same reason. Instead leave a chain the end of the toot.

Fediverse clients and #instances can help to improve readability also by ensuring hashtags are a different colour to the rest of the text. Readers can then identify the topic without necessarily reading the whole thing, too. And it helps readers to skip the '#' character while reading.

Is it easy to change a handle on Mastodon specifically?

All links will need to "redirect" to the newHandle. And on the individual instance at least, it would be nice if all the links were changed to the new name.
