Admittedly, despite all justified #euphoria, the #fediversecommunity has caused me a series of tremendous #disappointments in the past months.

Where #freedom of speech and convictions should have had a place, a #mob of #opinion snoops with #blocklist recommendations has spread and purged public #discourse of relevant contentious issues.

As a result, #NATO can still succeed as a #peace power today.

Zugegeben, bei aller begründeten #Euphorie, hat mir die #Fediversecommunity in den zurückliegenden Monaten eine Serie ungeheurer #Enttäuschungen bereitet.

Wo #Freiheit von Rede und Überzeugungen einen Platz hätten haben müssen, hat sich ein #Mob von #Gesinnungsschnüfflern mit #Blocklistenempfehlungen breit gemacht und den öffentlichen #Diskurs von relevanten strittigen Themen bereinigt.

In der Folge kann die #NATO bis heute als #Friedensmacht reüssieren.

A user privately asked me why I increased the character limit to 5000.

In general, I believe brevity is a great skill, but reducing a text to "a few" characters can be limiting. The choice of 500 characters is purely from the Mastodon Devs, but other software in the Fediverse doesn't have this limitation. Even blogging platforms like Plume exceed this limit by far, and Mastodon easily supports much higher limits.

BSD Cafe aims to be a place of free expression, and I don't want to impose overly strict constraints.

With every Mastodon update, I'll make sure to check that the limit remains, and if necessary, I'll patch the relevant sources to maintain the current level.

Yesterday, I added the three bots (#FreeBSD VuXML, FreeBSD Security and Errata, and #NetBSD Security) and kicked off a survey about #BSD systems (which I'll be boosting daily). 🤖📊 Many have already voted and shared their stories, making it a fascinating collective experience. There are all sorts of tales about how and why people started using a *BSD system. 📚🔍

The strength of Fediverse lies in ordinary folks sharing their common experiences without any algorithmic bias, unlike those catering to the usual VIPs. ✨👥 Wishing everyone a fantastic day ahead! Keep the positivity flowing! 😊💫
