If we want a more open Internet, we need to think #FediverseFirst.

Otherwise, more Reddit and Twitter situations will continue to happen.

If we want the fediverse to thrive and evolve, we need to think "#FediverseFirst".

This meaning, that it's okay for you to be engaged on other platforms, but if you are serious about reshaping the internet back to when the web was for the people, by the people; we need to start using the services available here.

We've got all these amazing applications but they may feel somewhat empty now, because people are too clingy for good ol' billionaire surveillance apps.

If you know of government run accounts and bots that should have a Fediverse presence, feel free to post them here too. Gov tends to respond to direct messaging, and I think it's worth trying to see if getting folks to email or call them will get some traction on migration.

With Twitter cutting off the API and ever more unstable, one tremendous loss will be the strong connection the service has enabled between people and government.

One example, the National Weather Service runs many Twitter bots for weather alerts, but repost bots like @nwsneworleans_bot won't work much longer.

I want them to be #FediverseFirst, then corporate media! Consider calling or emailing NWS (and others).

The federated tab should be the primary tab in #Mastodon and the local tab should be a search filter. Competing Mastodon clients should offer different features, not people. So like an email client, you may choose one for better search, performance and anti-spam filters. Local community posts should not be where the core differentiator is...our professional, social and interest circles are often separate. Imagine if Gmail forced you to look at emails from other Gmail users first. #fediversefirst

Leider scheint das Fediverse für viele "Große Accounts™️" auf Twitter immer noch Nebensache zu sein (leere Profile oder nur Links nach Twitter). Nachvollziehbar, wenn's drüben mehr Follower gibt. Deshalb werde ich nach & nach denen auf Twitter entfolgen, die auch hier sind oder deren Content verzichtbar ist. Mehr Follower hier & weniger auf Twitter, bringt hoffentlich mehr große Accounts dazu, das Fediverse ernster zu nehmen. Für mich gilt ab sofort #fediversefirst ! #twitterneindanke

Ich schaue mir gerade die Diskussion zum Fediverse vom rc3c an.

Wer auf die kommerziellen und proprietären Plattformen nicht verzichten kann/will, dem möchte ich meine Idee von #fediversefirst ans Herz legen.

Zuerst im Fediverse posten und dann sekundär auf Twitter&Co.

Das seinen Abonnenten & Follower so zu kommunizieren und umzusetzen, dass wäre meine Idee und fände ich gut.

Ich sag ja nicht das man Twitter nicht nutzen darf. Ich persönlich versuche wenn ich journalistisch Arbeite unter der Prämisse #FediverseFirst zu agieren.

@tunda ist jetzt auch eher mein Aktivisten und Privater Account. Wenn ich als Journalist unterwegs bin achte ich verstärkt drauf das ich Twitter wenn dann überhaupt, dann Nachrangig bespiele.

ja das besagte Argument ist das Hauptargument. Ich persönlich finde das aber nicht überzeugend, besonders wenn es Gruppen sind die sich selbst als progressiv empfinden.

Ich selbst hab den Ansatz #FediverseFirst entwickelt. Wer proprietäre Plattformen nutzen will kann das ja machen, dann aber, so wünschte ich es mir, zuerst das Fediverse bespielen, dann Twitter&Co.
