@joseph @lauren True, but it can become "evil" when pointing out #FediverseHurdles or #MastodonHurdles is responded to with techie #snobbery ... every time a #newbie expresses frustration with an unintuitive #ux and the response is a haughty #rtfm, you're likely to lose a potential new addition to the #community. We should all aim to make newcomers feel welcome, and an #intuitive ux is essential to that.

I propose the creation of #hashtags #FediverseHurdles and #MastodonHurdles where people can share what almost turned them off. My rationale is: if you found something offputting enough to almost make you leave then there will be others who felt the same and for every one of those who stuck with it there would be multiples who gave up. That must be avoided so #ux #developers need to know, and what better way than grouping such user stories through a #hashtag or two

@PietroGhezzi there are several hurdles a new user needs to overcome. At any of these a user may flounder and decide that Mastodon and, by extension, the Fediverse are not for them. Maybe we should create hashtags for #FediverseHurdles and #MastodonHurdles where people can explain what ALMOST caused them to drop off. If a hurdle caused a few people to almost leave mastodon you can be sure that the same hurdle caused a multiple of others to actually leave. Those hurdles need addressing.
