If #Threads and #Bluesky join the #fedivese they will bring more content to subscribe to. More content is good. Viewing it without being subjected to their ads and algorithm on Mastodon is also good. The likelihood they will try to use their clout to ruin federated social media for everyone, not so much.

Ive heard that there is an opt-in search engine service.
Boost and engagements are #Fedivese wide not only locally in you instance. If you are lacking engagement it takes time to know how it's done here. Also the users of the fediverse are very diferente from other social media. Also there is no algorithm and some fedivese app have the feature to delete a toot after certain time. So some things will disappear.

This might not be popular: Have any of you though about how much #power running a mastodon instance uses... If the current growth continues, I am afraid the #fedivese will end up using more #energy than the #cryptobros did.
I am not saying that centralized services was any better, it just wasn't as visible when it was financed by selling your privacy. Now you have a local admin with a electricity bill.
I really hope a lot of work is going into the optimization of #activitypub
